Singer IU‘s following on Instagram is reportedly seeing a consistent fall.

With over 32 million followers, IU is among the most followed Korean celebrities on the platform. This number only reflects her unwavering popularity in the real world, both domestically and abroad, even in the 17th year of her career as an idol.
But recently, IU’s Instagram account seems to have witnessed a steady drop in its number of followers. In a recent viral post on Instiz, a netizen posted an analysis of IU’s Instagram follower data, which showed that her follower count has been seeing constant decreases since mid-January.
Notably, in the recent few months, the singer has been targeted by supporters of South Korea’s right-wing ruling party after she openly showed support for protestors who demanded that former President Yoon Suk Yeol be impeached for trying to implement martial law. She was one of the significant names that appeared on an anonymous “Communist List” online a few days ago.

Many have speculated that the recent drop in IU’s followers is related to these rumors and harassment campaigns against the singer. But overall, fans are not worried about her popularity declining anytime soon.

- “Yoon Suk Yeol’s supporters are working hard, tsk.”
- “That bad?”
- “It’s good that the bugs are leaving.”

- “Does that even matter?”
- “Is it considered a downward trend at this level?”
- “Huh? What is this? If you have nothing to do, just go to the beach and count the sand.”
- “LOL.”
