A tragic event happened at an elementary school in Daejeon, where an 8-year-old girl was fatally stabbed. Her teacher was also injured in the attack and taken to the hospital.
According to authorities from the Daejeon Seobu Police Station, the attack took place on February 10 at around 5:50 PM in a second-floor audiovisual room of an elementary school located in the city’s Seogu district.

The young victim (identified as student A) was reported missing by her family after they were unable to contact her following her after-school care program. Police officers searching the school found the child collapsed inside a storage room within the audiovisual room. She was discovered with stab wounds to her shoulder and hands. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was later pronounced dead.
A teacher in her 30s was also found at the scene with knife wounds to the neck and arm. Fortunately, she was still conscious when help arrived.

According to Yonhap News Agency, police have arrested a suspect near the crime scene. Investigators are now working to determine what led to the attack. Details regarding potential suspects or motives have not yet been released.
