Netflix‘s Korean dating-reality show Single’s Inferno became an international hit when it aired in 2021. Its success led to three more seasons, but now some viewers are expressing their disappointment.
Since the first season, Single’s Inferno has been split between two locations: Inferno (a desert island) and Paradise (a luxurious hotel resort). To escape Inferno for some one-on-one time, a female cast member must choose a male cast member for a date, or vice versa.
Lounging around all day on a private island might sound just as good as going to Paradise, but in earlier seasons, the cast had to do more laborious activities, such as preparing their own food and transporting pails of water. That made life in Inferno a little, well, hellish.
Some viewers say Season 4 has departed from this Inferno vs Paradise contrast by making life on the island too comfortable for the singles and making the challenges needed to get to Paradise too easy. This has, in turn, made Inferno segments of the show “boring” to watch.

Viewers pointed out particular luxuries that were not available during the first three seasons such as cozy beds, a swimming pool, and rooms.

These changes make Inferno seem much more like Paradise, making Paradise less of a reward for both the cast members and viewers. By removing elements of the show, such as carrying water, some viewers also feel like Single’s Inferno 4 has taken away bonding moments between the singles.
