After South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol tried to enforce martial law and was forced to repeal it just six hours later on December 3, KST, the country has erupted in protests demanding his impeachment.
While the general public and political opposition have been rallying since day one for President Yoon’s ousting, major celebrities have also started to speak up. On December 7, KST, notable actors such as Son Ye Jin, Jeon Ji Hyun, Kang Dong Won, and Moon So Ri, along with other industry veterans like Bong Joon Ho, signed a joint letter demanding the impeachment and arrest of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The joint statement, signed by over 77 organizations in the entertainment industry and 2,518 professionals across the board, emphasized that President Yoon and his other martial law enforcers should face prosecution for their crimes.
The first prerequisite to overcoming the current chaotic situation and the fallen status of the Republic of Korea is to suspend Yoon Suk Yeol from his presidential duties. “If impeachment is the fastest way, then we should choose impeachment, and if there is another way to remove him from office, then we should find the fastest way.

The letter also re-emphasized that to Korea’s film industry professionals, Yoon was no longer a president but a “criminal caught in the act.” It demanded his immediate suspension, impeachment, and a swift arrest.
