When YG Entertainment released the much-anticipated music video for BABYMONSTER‘s latest comeback, “FOREVER,” the words to the song were also included in the video description for fans to see.
The members received tremendous love for their unparalleled skills in the MV…
…but the song itself has left some fans disappointed over the “subpar lyrics.”
“Alright ok ok ok ok / Alright ok / BABYMONSTER
I got no worries on my mind / I won’t stop / So you can say goodbye
I’ll fulfill my fantasy / And you can watch and see / Clap your hands
So bright / They say she looking flawless / I know / Born with it like thisShe’s unlike unlike anybody / Crowd going wild everywhere
Ga-na-da-ra-ma-ba-ssagaji* / Gotta gotta go so c’est la vie
*A Korean word that means sass, attitude, and/or bitchI’m dancing in the moonlight / Ooh ay
Can’t stop this feeling tonight /What you waiting forBaby it was all a dream / You thought I was yours / Don’t get it confused
It’s bitter it’s sweet / High up in the sky / I’m spreading my wings / Like I’mma liveForever / Like I’mma live forever / Forever / Like I’mma like I’mma
Forever / Like I’m gonna live / Like I’m gonna live forever”
Korean fans, in particular, pointed out the song’s overuse of English and slammed the “tacky” Korean parts.
- “There’s no Korean.”
- “What’s going on with these words…”
- “How come it’s all in English? And the little that is in Korean is some ganadara bullsh*t…”
- “Ssagaji…“
- “This isn’t even enough to call lyrics.”
- “Nevermind the lyrics… The song itself isn’t catchy. Like, if the song is good, it sticks even if the words are in English. This song, on the other hand, makes the members ramble on and on and on. I feel like it’s a waste of their talent.”
- “YG Entertainment put together such an amazing lineup of members, but then their music is like—”
- “F*cking ganadaramabasa.”
- “At this point, it might be best to outsource songwriting to professionals. I don’t understand the obsession with this tacky concept. It’s not 2024. It’s at least a decade old.”
- “Old.”
- “Ganadaramaba-ssagaji? LMAO.”
- “Who wrote these lyrics?”
The words to the song aren’t the first to cause buzz around “FOREVER.” Earlier, when the teaser was dropped, fans questioned the magazine cover aesthetic and clashed in the comments over whether or not it was YG Entertainment’s best work.
