As things stand now, the Detroit Lions are not projected to receive a single compensatory pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. That’s according to two different places, Over The Cap and Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.
Compensatory picks are awarded based on the total number of qualifying free agents gained and lost. A more in-depth explanation of the formula can be found here.
For the Lions, their losses of offensive lineman Jonah Jackson, defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson and wide receiver Josh Reynolds are cancelled out by the signings of defensive end Marcus Davenport, defensive lineman D.J. Reader and offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler.
The signing of Amik Robertson helped the Las Vegas Raiders with one of their projected compensatory selections.
With no compensatory picks coming, the Lions are slated to have at least one pick in every round of the 2025 NFL Draft but the third, which went to the Dallas Cowboys in the move up for cornerback Terrion Arnold. Detroit has two picks in the seventh, one of which was received in the aforementioned deal.
