The 2024 NCAA tennis championships are down to the final rounds, with a top-heavy men’s bracket and wide-open women’s field playing for a national title in Stillwater, Okla.
After falling in the final last year, top-seeded Ohio State is the favorite to take the men’s crown in 2024. The Buckeyes have been dominant all season, winning the national indoor title in February and compiling a 33-1 record entering the quarterfinals. That lone loss, however, came at No. 2 seed Texas in March, and a Longhorns team led by two of the top five-ranked singles players in the country, No. 2 Eliot Spizzirri and No. 5 Micah Braswell, will have a great shot at the title.
One more powerhouse will have something to say about that, however: two-time defending national champion Virginia is the third seed and cannot be overlooked after winning six titles since 2013, including that defeat of the Buckeyes in the 2023 championship match.
The women’s side is perhaps more difficult to handicap after top seed and championship host Oklahoma State lost to 16th seed Tennessee in the super regionals. Defending champion and No. 4 seed North Carolina also got bounced by a lower-seeded SEC team in the supers, falling at home to No. 13 Texas A&M.
That leaves No. 2 seed Stanford and No. 3 seed Michigan as the favorites on paper, and the two could not have more different championship pedigrees. The Cardinal have won a record 20 women’s team titles, while Michigan has advanced to the quarterfinals only once before this year, in 2016. A Wolverines title would be historic not just for the school but for the conference, as a Big Ten team has never even reached the women’s final.
Here’s how to watch all the action over four days at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.

NCAA tennis championships scoring format
College tennis team competition consists of three doubles and six singles matches between the schools.
Doubles is played first, with a single six-game set decided by a seven-point tiebreaker if it gets to 6-6. Whichever school wins two of the doubles matches gets one point toward the team total.
The six singles matches are best-of-three sets and worth one point each, and the first team to four points overall (including the doubles point) is the winner.
