OLD TRAFFORD, MANCHESTER — Manchester United face Liverpool at Old Trafford in the Premier League as Jurgen Klopp’s side aim to avenge their FA Cup quarterfinal defeat last month.
Perhaps revenge isn’t the priority for Klopp and his team as they’ll be more focused on the title race. They sit level on points with Manchester City but have played one game less.
For United, it is not mathematically impossible for them to qualify for the Champions League next season, however, they’ll need to win nearly every match from now until the end of the campaign and have a fair few results elsewhere to go in their favour.
The Sporting News is following Man United vs. Liverpool live, providing score updates, commentary and highlights as they happen.

Man United vs Liverpool live updates, highlights, and commentary
HT: United have been bruised and bullied in this first half yet it somehow remains just 1-0. Will they make Liverpool rue those missed chances?
42nd minute: Bradley is allowed to drift into United’s box and cuts the ball across for Nunez to dummy and tee up a Diaz shot which is blocked.
40th minute: Diaz goes down and Casemiro kicks the ball out so he can receive treatment. He gets straight back up to his feet, much to the dislike of the Old Trafford faithful.
36th minute: Klopp’s men have just had their 13th shot of the match. This one again from Salah but it’s a wild one from him.
35th minute: Liverpool are all over United here. Nunez tries to better Salah’s strike but he can’t quite keep the strike down.
33rd minute: Salah is picked out by Diaz and the Egyptian curls an effort goalwards but Onana makes the save.
28th minute: Nunez comes flying through Garnacho and somehow earns himself a freekick.
26th minute: United counter and Mac Allister brings down Fernandes. The Liverpool midfielder is lucky to avoid a yellow there.
23rd minute: GOAL! 1-0 to Liverpool! It had been coming and the visitors lead. Robertson’s corner is swung in and Nunez flicks on the header to the far post for Diaz to acrobatically volley past Onana.
21st minute: Again it’s Robertson down the left causing United problems. This time they back away from the Scot who is allowed the freedom to shoot but drags his effort wide.
18th minute: Robertson’s tantalising cross is met by Szoboszlai but he’s sliding in to make contact and it goes narrowly wide. Liverpool kicking into gear now.
13th minute: Liverpool slightly getting on top here as they’re finding space in behind United’s defence. Nunez is well tackled by Dalot who was the host’s last hope on that attack.
6th minute: Bradley goes into the book for a late sliding challenge on Rashford. Well played by the referee Anthony Taylor who let play on but remembered to go back to the foul.
3rd minute: Szoboszlai forces Onana into an early save. What a start to this game.
2nd minute: Garnacho has the ball in the back of the net but he’s well offside.
1st minute: We’re underway at Old Trafford.
