The Stars now control the Western Conference Final after winning their second straight game against the Oilers. The 5-3 victory Monday night put Dallas up 2-1 and makes Game 4 on Wednesday even more crucial for both sides.
Jason Robertson played hero by ending a 10-game goalless streak in a big way with a hat trick. His scoring effort included the Stars’ first goal of the night (second period) and the one that put the Stars ahead, 4-3, at 11:54 in the third period. Two of his goals were assisted by Roope Hintz, who Dallas was more than happy to have back after he missed the previous four games with an injury. Jake Oettinger also secured 28 saves in net for the second straight game.
The Oilers led 2-0 at the end of the first period thanks to Zach Hyman scoring the opener and Connor McDavid netting another. McDavid continued his stellar play in the postseason, also tallying an assist.
Pulling off the comeback on the road was just another display of resilience that the Stars have made an identity for the last few seasons. It’s the type of resolve that most champions display. The Stars now have a chance to head back to Dallas with a commanding 3-1 lead and get one step closer to the Stanley Cup Final.
