Son Heung Min was injured in a scuffle with his fellow national team members.
On February 14, it was reported that Son Heung Min injured his hand before Korea’s ill-fated match against Jordan in the 2024 Asian Cup semi-finals.
According to the reports, during a team dinner, a scuffle broke out between Son Heung Min and the younger players, including Lee Kang In. The report states that the scuffle was over Paris Saint-Germain F.C. (PSG) star Lee Kang In, who wanted to play table tennis after a team dinner. Son Heung Min wanted Lee Kang In to stay with the team longer to prepare for their upcoming match.
During the fray, Son Heung Min reportedly injured his hand while pushing players away. In Korea’s match against Jordan, Son Heung Min could be seen with a wrap around his fingers.
The Korean Football Association has since confirmed the scuffle occurred. The news comes at a precarious time for the KFA, in which there have been prominent calls for its President, Chung Mong Gyu, to step down after the national team’s poor showing at the 2024 Asian Cup.
