Lionel Messi heads back to the Windy City for the first time as an MLS player this summer.
Messi and Inter Miami travel to Chicago to face the Fire at Soldier Field on Saturday, August 31. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, 8:30 p.m. ET.
Last season, a Messi-less Inter Miami traveled to Chicago and got trounced by the Fire, 4-1. This season, coach Gerardo Martino will hope that new young signings including Federico Redondo and Marcelo Weigandt can help improve the defensive effort.

The Fire, under club legend Frank Klopas for the second time, are continuing to struggle on the field. Through their first nine games, they only have nine points. However, with Xherdan Shaqiri as playmaker and Hugo Cuypers up top, the Fire always look capable of scoring goals.

Even with the Fire opening up all of Soldier Field to fans for the match, demand is sky high for tickets. Fans will need to pay at least $ 106 to get in the stadium, for tickets in section 428. On the more expensive side, some fans could pay as much as $ 6,072 for front-row seats.
Messi played in a memorable match at Soldier Field in the summer of 2013, though he was briefly outshined by a bicycle kick from former Northwestern University forward Matt Eliason. Messi could also end up playing at Soldier Field earlier in the year as Argentina scheduled a friendly match against Ecuador in Chicago.

Leagues Cup
The 2024 Leagues Cup is scheduled to begin on July 26, 2024, with the final taking place on August 25, 2024.
Inter Miami has been drawn in Eastern Conference Group 3 with Liga MX sides Tigres UANL and Puebla. Inter Miami kicks off Leagues Cup action this year on July 27, in a home match against Puebla, before facing Tigres at Houston’s NRG Stadium on August 3.
The top two teams in each group advance to the Round of 16 and then a knockout-round style tournament commences.
During the Leagues Cup, no MLS games will take place as league play pauses for the month-long competition.
