The Boston Red Sox have struggled with injuries early in their 2024 campaign, and their luck just got even worse, as the team announced that first baseman Triston Casas was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left rib strain that he suffered during Saturday’s win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Casas had appeared in all 22 of Boston’s games this season hitting .244 with six home runs and an .857 OPS.
His roster spot has been filled by catcher Tyler Heineman, who Boston recalled from Triple-A Worcester.
For now, the Red Sox will likely place Bobby Dalbec (hitting .038 with a .184 OPS in 13 games) back at first base, leaving third base to be filled by Pablo Reyes (hitting .167 with a .395 OPS in 15 games) until Rafael Devers returns from his knee injury.
