In Sunday’s regular season finale between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers, neither team was running too high on motivation.
While other teams across the league were still scrambling for playoff position, the Rockets were already eliminated from postseason contention, and the Clippers were locked into a first-round series against the Dallas Mavericks.
But while there was little to play for when it came to the teams on the court, there was one great thing to play for regarding the fans watching the game: free chicken.
With the game well into the fourth quarter and the Clippers holding a solid lead, Rockets’ beloved big man Boban Marjanović decided to take matters into his own hands at the free throw line. After missing his first attempt, Boban caught on that fans of the home team would win free chicken if he missed both of his shots from the line.
After playing to the crowd for a moment, he delivered the most meaningful shot he had the chance to make on Sunday.

While the basketball usually comes first in any NBA game, Sunday presented a very specific situation when something else superseded the sport.
This was about more than basketball. This was about chicken.
And Boban delivered.
