Week 1 of the Jets’ 2023 season will forever be remembered for Aaron Rodgers’ devastating Achilles tear, but it also marked a glimpse into the future of the franchise.
Rodgers’ injury left fans feeling every emotion imaginable with various opinions about how to move forward, but the fan base could largely agree on one thing: they wanted to see more of the throwback uniforms worn by the team on that night.
After forward-thinking uniforms unveiled in 2019 received mixed reviews, owner Woody Johnson confirmed the Jets would debut a simplified look ahead of the 2024 season in the mold of the team’s 2023 throwbacks. That rebrand is now official, featuring a new logo, helmet, and uniform set.
Here’s a look at the Jets’ redesign and some of the key changes to know.

New York Jets new uniforms 2024
The Jets unveiled a new set of three uniforms on Monday, rolling into the 2024 season with white, green, and black jerseys that mirror the throwback template the franchise reintroduced in 2023.

The Jets’ home and away jerseys are a throwback to what the franchise wore from 1978-89, an era that included the team’s iconic “New York Sack Exchange” nickname. While the shade of green is now a bit darker and small enhancements have been made, the Jets didn’t have to look far to find the concept for the uniforms.
New York also opted to keep a black alternate jersey, which was the most popular of a somewhat unpopular set from 2019-23. The Jets didn’t stick with the 2019-23 design, as expected. The black uniform mirrors the new home and away set, giving the franchise an option it didn’t have when the early editions of those uniforms were worn in the 1980s.
“We work for the fans,” Johnson said in a release on Monday. “They have consistently asked for us to return to our roots and we heard them.”
Jets new jerseys, explained
Home jersey
The Jets’ green home jerseys are effectively the inverse of the throwback white uniform the team reintroduced in 2024. They feature a much richer green than the one worn in the 1980s, in line with the franchise’s modern-day color scheme, but they are simple uniforms with two white stripes along the shoulders and clean white numbers with a basic font.
Unlike the Jets’ home jerseys from the last five seasons, the color black is not involved in the design. Previous Jets uniforms featured a black outline around the numbers.
The Jets unveiled two combinations of pants to be worn with the green jerseys, showcasing white pants with a large green stripe that goes up the thigh plus green pants that create the all-green look.

Away jersey
The Jets wore their white throwback uniform twice at home last season, but it’s now taking over as their primary road uniform with a green home uniform in the mix.
Fans didn’t want the jersey to change much if it became full-time, and they got their wish. The jersey mirrors what the Jets put on the field against the Bills and Chiefs in 2023, with simple green stripes on the shoulders along with plain green numbers and name lettering.
Like the green home jersey, the Jets’ white uniform can be worn with both white and green pants.
Alternate jersey
The Jets faced pressure to keep a black alternate jersey in the mix while designing it in the mold of the same classic look as the new uniforms. Their all-black look is now here, and it comes with a black helmet that features the Jets’ new logo.
The black uniforms have green stripes on the shoulders, as well as white numbers with a thin green outline. The Jets had to find a way to incorporate green into the jersey, and they did so by shying away from white shoulder stripes.
The Jets’ black alternates were often the most popular jerseys of their previous set, so fans can breathe easy knowing a classic version of the look will be worn in 2024 and beyond.

Jets new logo
The Jets also unveiled a new primary logo on Monday, ditching the football-shaped era of logos that began in 1998.
New York’s new logo is a simple wordmark with a graphic that mimics an airplane wing above the lettering. It’s a slightly modernized take on the team’s logo used from 1979-97, with minimal changes outside of a different shade of green.
In addition to new uniforms, the New York Jets also changed their logo today, going back to a style almost exactly the same as what they used from 1978-97. Here’s a side-by-side where you can see changes to the lettering and the jet itself. #NYJ

Jets new helmet
The Jets were one of only a few teams without their primary logo on their helmet from 2019-23, but that changed with Monday’s reveal. The Jets’ new primary logo is featured on their primary green chrome helmet, and it’s also included in green lettering on the team’s alternate black helmet.

One minor change that fans could find endearing is the addition of “NY” lettering on the front bumper of both helmets, adding one more flare that wasn’t there for the Jets in 2023.
Love the Jets addition of “NY” to the helmet bumper. Major improvement over the blank one used last year. pic.twitter.com/8GSDbi3zoz
