The Seattle Seahawks have a relatively deep wide receiver room that also happens to be diverse. With D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Seahawks are in a great spot. With the third and fourth waves of free agency upon us, options to add depth are getting thin.
On Tuesday, the Seahawks had Chase Claypool in for a visit. He would provide depth with some theoretical upside, as he is a true height/weight/speed receiver. Unfortunately, he hasn’t really been able to replicate his rookie season.
In 2020, Claypool thrived with the Pittsburgh Steelers notching 11 touchdowns and 873 receiving yards while having a flare for the spectacular catch. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to stay consistent in doing so. Over the past three years, Claypool has played with the Steelers, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins unable to recapture that magic.
Could he do so in Ryan Grubb’s offense? That not an impossibility with how he loves to attack vertically. If he doesn’t land on an NFL roster, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have his negotiating rights.
