NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that previously retired defensive tackle Eddie Goldman will attempt to make a comeback to reunite with the Atlanta Falcons.
As the adage goes, if you don’t succeed at first, try again. Goldman originally signed with the Falcons in July of 2022 to help generate a plug for a leaky defense ranked 25th in rushing EPA allowed and 30th in defensive rushing success rate in 2021.
This will be the third time that Goldman will attempt to make it to the final 53-man roster in Atlanta, but they say that third time’s a charm.
The last time we saw Goldman on the field was in 2021 when he played 14 games for the Chicago Bears and mustered 22 total tackles, 14 solo, one tackle for loss and a half sack.
With roughly 800+ days without playing an NFL game and Goldman turning 30 just this January, there are doubts about whether Goldman can be the nose tackle the Falcons need.
