When K-Pop groups promote, the cycle is usually kicked off by a release. For newly debuted groups, this is usually a single or mini-album that features the track that will be performed on music shows.
There is no set time limit, but usually, after a few promotion cycles, groups will release a full album. A full album has more than eight tracks and serves as a milestone for the group, allowing them to deliver more diversity in their tracks.
Most groups will release a full album within their first two years but rarely exceed four. However, an active girl group is still waiting for their first full album.
In 2019, Woollim Entertainment introduced Rocket Punch as their second girl group, following Lovelyz, and the group released their first mini album in August.
In 2020 and 2021, the group consistently released single- and mini-albums, making their Japanese debut in August 2021. Beginning with their 2022 single album, Flash, the group would only release Korean single albums rather than mini-albums.
Several members participated in the 2023 program Queendom Puzzle, with member Yeonhee making it into the winning group, EL7Z UP.
Following this burst in publicity, some expected at least a mini-album; however, their most recent release, Boom, was another single.
The group has technically released a full album, the Japanese release Doki Doki Love. However, they have not released one in Korea, meaning that many fans are still waiting for the “1st Album” title to be given to a release.
Hopefully, 2024 will be the year Rocket Punch releases their first full-length Korean album!
