Starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery is signing with the defending NL champion Diamondbacks.
The sought-after free agent lefty is jumping over to the dark side, joining the team that his former Rangers defeated in the 2023 World Series. ESPN’s Jeff Passan was first to report the news Tuesday.
Montgomery, 31, was one of the headliner starting pitchers available this offseason. His agent Scott Boras was patient in finding the correct fit as his client drew interest from several clubs, including the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Phillies and even a potential reunion with Texas.
With 2024 MLB Opening Day just two days away, Montgomery finally found a home — and a favorable deal — in Arizona.
The Sporting News has you covered with his contract details below.
