The Kansas City Royals only won 56 games in 2023, the team’s seventh straight losing season. It has been a rough road for the team since the 2015 World Series.
However, a bright spot on the team is the young guns, ready to break out and prove the Royals can go far in the AL Central.
The Royals had a busy offseason, signing several veteran players to their roster. John Sherman’s team traded for pitcher Nick Anderson and Carlos Mateo while splurging and signing stars like Will Smith, Seth Lugo and Chris Stratton. The team ended December by signing Michael Wacha and Hunter Renfroe. By securing a pitching staff, the Royals are ready to hold off any offensive threat in its way.
Internally, the Royals brought up top prospects looking to have breakout seasons. Vinnie Pasquantino, Maikel Garcia, Cole Ragans and Bobby Witt Jr. are just a few names that come to mind. The Royals liked what Witt was able to do last season with 30 home runs, 11 triples, 49 stolen bases and a .276 average, signing the 23-year-old to an 11-year deal worth about $ 288.8 million.

“From the day we drafted him, we felt confident Bobby would become one of our game’s brightest stars and biggest talents,” general manager J.J. Picollo said, via Forbes. “These last two seasons have been confirmation. We know he wants to win here for our fans as much as we do.”
Helping the young guns will be veteran leader Salvador Perez behind the plate. The hope is the youth movement will take over baseball sooner rather than later.
Here’s a complete guide to watching the Royals this season without cable.
How to watch Royals games without cable
For those without cable, there are several options to stream Royals games this year.
If you’re in-market, Fubo carries Bally Sports Kansas City, the Royals’ RSN, but blackout restrictions apply. If you are within the market for Bally Sports Kansas City, you can watch Royals baseball via Fubo. Those out of market will not be able to watch Royals games on the streaming service, since Fubo will not carry the out-of-market RSN.
Inside market, DirecTV Stream also carries Bally Sports Kansas City, as well as all of the networks that broadcast games nationally: Fox, ESPN, MLB Network, FS1 and MLB Network. These are all part of the service’s Choice package for $ 108.99 monthly.
If you live outside the Royals’ TV market, you can watch games via MLB.tv. For $ 149.99 for the season or $ 29.99 per month, you can catch every game from every team outside your local market. You can also pick a single-team option for $ 129.99 for the season. Again, this is only if you are outside the Royals’ TV market: If you are inside the Royals’ market, games will be blacked out. Games will also be blacked out if you live outside the Royals’ market, but inside the market of teams the Royals are visiting.
Fubo is also carrying MLB.tv, for $ 29.99 per month on top of the Fubo subscription.

For nationally televised games, there are a few options, with some exceptions: Fubo, SlingTV, and DirecTV Stream all carry ESPN, MLB Network and FS1. YoutubeTV and Hulu + Live TV carry ESPN and FS1, but they do not carry MLB Network in 2024.
You can check if games are blacked out in your area using MLB’s blackout tool.
