The field is set for the 2024 Southern Conference women’s basketball tournament, and the title is Chattanooga’s to lose.
The Mocs — a 19-time champion of the tournament and the winners of last year’s event — are once again perched atop the SoCon. Chattanooga (25-4) lost just once in conference play, a four-point defeat against UNC Greensboro on Feb. 24, a game in which the Mocs were outscored by 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Senior guard Jada Guinn (18.9 points, 7.0 rebounds) and sophomore forward Raven Thompson (14.6 points, 6.9 rebounds) pace the Mocs on both ends of the floor.
In what is likely a one-bid league come the NCAA Tournament, everything is on the line. But the road to the auto bid will not come easily. The Spartans, after defeating Chattanooga less than two weeks ago, figure to pose a significant challenge. Wofford, which advanced all the way to the title game last season, is still formidable as the No. 3 seed.
