The Warriors will be without starting forward Andrew Wiggins for an indefinite period of time as he attends to a family matter, head coach Steve Kerr told The Bay Area’s 95.7 “The Game” on Feb. 28.
Just as Golden State was starting to hit its stride, winning 11 of its last 14 games, the team will need to adjust its rotation to compensate for Wiggins’ absence.
Wiggins has had a down year by his standards, but the 29-year-old forward still has started in 40 of 51 games played for the Warriors. He is averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
Golden State is grinding to get out of the Play-In Tournament range and into a top-six seed in the Western Conference. But at least for the near future, it will have to do so without one of its starters.

Why is Andrew Wiggins away from the Warriors?
Wiggins was listed on the Warriors’ injury report as out for “personal reasons” on Feb. 27 against the Wizards.
On Feb. 28, head coach Steve Kerr gave an update on Wiggins’ situation during an interview on The Bay Area’s 95.7 “The Game.”
“Wiggs is dealing with a personal matter,” Kerr said. “We do expect him back, but we just don’t exactly know when.”
Wiggins departed the team at around the same time last season due to a personal matter, and he missed the remainder of the regular season (25 games). It was later reported that his leave of absence resulted from his father, Mitchell Wiggins, dealing with a “serious medical situation.”
The reason for Wiggins’ absence this season remains unknown.

When will Andrew Wiggins return?
There is no clear timetable for Wiggins’ return, as Kerr noted Wednesday.
In 2023, Wiggins stepped away from the Warriors to attend to his father’s medical emergency just before the All-Star break. He missed the final 25 games of the regular season.
Wiggins was able to return for Golden State’s playoff run, appearing in all 13 postseason games for the Warriors.
