One of the many all-Premier League clashes in the fourth round of the FA Cup comes from Craven Cottage as Fulham hosts fellow top-flight side Newcastle in England’s preeminent domestic cup competition.
Fulham have failed to beat Newcastle in seven straight meetings between the clubs, dating back to their days as Championship opponents in 2017. Since the Magpies have won five and drawn two against the Cottagers, all in Premier League play.
These two clubs have not met in knockout competition since 1982, when Fulham advanced through the League Cup by a 4-1 aggregate score.
Newcastle could use a boost by advancing in the FA Cup, having fallen back in their hopes of finishing amongst the Premier League’s European places, as an injury crisis has seen the Magpies fall to 10th on the heels of four straight league defeats.

Fulham vs Newcastle prediction, odds
- Moneyline lean: Fulham (+195)
- Score prediction: Fulham 3-2 Newcastle
Fulham have been night and day when it comes to their home/road splits this season. Six of their seven victories in Premier League play have come at Craven Cottage, and they secured results against Tottenham and Liverpool at home in the EFL Cup. Even their adverse results at home against Burnley, Manchester United, and Chelsea saw them right in all three matches until the end.
They should manage to take advantage of Newcastle’s injury-stricken squad in what could turn out to be a barn burner of a match.

Fulham vs Newcastle: best bet
- Pick: Over 3.0 total goals
- Odds: +125 (DraftKings)
Eddie Howe’s notoriously stingy defensive solidity has been reduced to dust across the four-match Premier League losing streak, as injuries and other squad restraints sap his squad of its talent and depth. Newcastle has shipped 11 goals over those four matches, and lucky it’s not more as opponents generated 14.15 xG in those matches.
Yet they are still able to score goals of their own, putting up five goals in their last three against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Callum Wilson’s seven goals in 14 games have him third in the Premier League for goals per minute, and Alexander Isak has come back to life after disappearing through November and December.
Fulham are much stingier at home than on the road this year, but Newcastle should manage to do their part and the hosts will find goals of their own.
Fulham vs Newcastle prop bet
- Pick: Alexander Isak anytime goal scorer
- Odds: +130 (DraftKings)
After appearing to slow through the latter portion of 2023, Alexander Isak appears reborn as the calendar flipped to the new year, doing his best to drag Newcastle out of its slump. Fed with numerous opportunities in front of goal, Isak has at least a goal in each of his last four appearances — one in each of his last three Premier League games plus a pair in the Tyne-Wear derby from the previous FA Cup round.
Even as Callum Wilson continues to impress himself, Isak remains a central figure up front for the Magpies, collecting 14 shots in those four matches worth a combined 3.91 xG. The Swedish international scored in his only other appearance against Fulham, a 1-0 victory last January, and should have plenty of chances to reprise that role here.
