Serbia have claimed the 2024 Olympic Bronze medal, after outlasting Germany in a strong performance.
Nikola Jokic was predictably incredible, finishing with a 19 point, 12 rebound, 11 assist triple double for his country, with running mates Misic and Bogdanovic adding 19 points and 16 points, respectively.
Germany hung around for much longer than they should’ve, thanks to big showings from both Wagner brothers, but ultimately the reigning FIBA World Champions fell short of the podium, going down by 10 points.

(All times Eastern)
SERBIA WINS 93-83
6:47am – It was closer than it should’ve been, but Serbia are your 2024 Olympic Bronze medallists. They win 93, 83.
6:44am – Franz makes an open layup to pull Germany within 10, but only 1:16 remain. Close to needing a miracle territory here.
6:41am – Another Jokic assist. Another Serbia three. Another 15 point lead. Can the men in blue get the job done?
6:37am – Just as Germany pull back within single digits, Bogdanovic with a huge three and a dime of his own and suddenly they’re back up 13. Serbia leads 87-74.
6:34am – It might be Jokic takeover time. The Joker follows up a clean three with a full-court time, and is only two rebounds shy of a triple-double, with over six minutes left.
6:28am – Franz gets the layup to go, Jokic misses his middy, and Serbia heads into the fourth quarter up by just nine. Serbia leads 73-62.
6:24am – Moe Wagner gets the up-and-under to go, and then Nick Weiler-Babb gets fouled and heads to the line.
6:21am – Serbia cops a flopping tech of their own, and once Wagner knocks down the free throw, it’s suddenly a 10-point game.
6:19am – Dobric makes a running floater to stop the bleeding, and then Thiemann – looking to take a charge – is instead given a technical foul for flopping. Misic makes the free throw, and Serbia once again look comfortable.
6:13am – Okay, second time’s the charm. Germany hit two massive threes courtesy of Isaac Bonga and Moe Wagner, and now it’s Serbias time to call a timeout. Serbia lead 64-51.
6:13am – Whatever Germany talked about in that stoppage hasn’t worked, with Serbia coming out with five more quick points, and ANOTHER Germany timeout is called.
6:11am – Avramovic with five fast points and Germany quickly take a timeout, as the lead grows to the largest of the game. Serbia leads 59-45.
6:08am – A put-back tip from Theis is Germany’s first bucket of the half, with both teams leaving a lot of points on the rim in the early minutes here.
6:04am – A beautiful behind-the-back dime from Jokic opens proceedings in the second half, as Serbia go back up double digits.
5:48am – Germany miss four separate shots to pull within six points, including Franz Wagner wide open under the ring, and Obst with a wide open three of his own. Still, the reigning World Champs do well to keep the game close as we head to half time. Serbia lead 46-38.
5:46am – A Hail Mary three goes down for Aleksa Avramovic, but it’s answered by Andreas Obst, causing the game’s leaders to call a timeout with just 48 seconds left in the first half.
5:43am – Bogdanovic sits with his third foul of the game, which sends Wagner to the line where he makes both his free throws. Two more fouls will see the Serbian ejected, something to keep an eye on as the game progresses.
5:38am – After a red hot first quarter, Serbia are just 3/8 in the second so far, just keeping the door ajar for Germany, who have pulled to within eight. Serbia lead 41-33.
5:31am – Johannes Thiemann with a massive five straight to keep the game within arms reach for Germany, back to within single digits before a Misic jumper puts it back up 11.
5:27am – A seven point swing sees Germany go down nine, as a missed Wagner three turns into a made Vasilije Misic jump shot, followed by a Bogdanovic offensive board and possible And-1 on the next play. Serbia lead 34-23.
5:23am – Maodo Lo starts the second quarter with an offensive foul, not the play that Germany would’ve been hoping for. Franz Wagner saves the day however, with a steal and a trip to the charity stripe.
5:20am – Germany doing well to be in the game right now, only down nine points despite Serbia shooting a blinding 71% from the field. Serbia lead 30-21.
5:16am – Schroeder hits his team’s fourth three of the game to keep them close, but Serbia are humming on offense right now, up to 24 points in the quarter.
5:09am – Jokic links up with Bogdanovic, to put the lead up to eight, before Schroeder answers with a three. Theis blocks Bogdanovic, and the energy is ramping up. Serbia lead 18-13.
5:06am – Jokic sees something he likes in this Theis match-up once again taking him deep into the paint before flipping it in.
5:05am – The MVP gets on the board, as Nikola Jokic taking Daniel Theis into deep waters for an easy layup. An electric pace to start this one, as Schroeder makes both his free-throws. Serbia lead 9-5.
5:03am – Bogdanovic wasting no time in getting us started, with a tough three then matched by Andreas Obst.
4:56am – Good morning and welcome! We’re just minutes away from tip-off, as the two previous FIBA World Champions do battle for Olympic bronze, with Nikola Jokic and Serbia taking on Dennis Schroeder and Germany.
