This year’s preseason are the only three chances that Atlanta Falcons fans will see of eighth overall pick Michael Penix Jr. barring something catastrophic in the 2024 season. So, what does the former Heisman finalist do? He shows off the explosive arm that made general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Raheem Morris swoon.

Penix was looking to capitalize on the speed of the receivers on the outside numerous times before this throw, but he couldn’t find the timing. Here he and receiver Chris Blair found the timing and it led to a huge 41-yard gain that led to a Younghoe Koo field goal.
Penix is doing a terrible job of tempering expectations for the future as he ends his day 9-for-16 for 104 yards and leading the Falcons to two scoring drives, including a one-yard Carlos Washingon Jr. TD run.
