The hardest medal in gymnastics is up for grabs in the 2024 Olympic women’s all-around finals. Twenty-four enter, only three come out on top of the podium.
But for the first time, two of those gymnasts already earned the gold. Simone Biles and Suni Lee will go up against each other as the latest all-around gold medalists, the first time former champions have done so.
While they’re favorites, it’s Rebeca Andrade they should keep an eye on. The Brazilian finished second behind Biles in qualifications and just 0.366 in team finals. Plus, she’s the reigning silver all-around medalist. It’s going to be a fight to the finish, especially among Andrade and Biles.
Still, there’s plenty more world-class talent to watch besides the Americans. Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour, known for her bar work, poses a serious threat for the bronze, and Alice D’Amato is coming off a high after helping Italy to a silver team medal.
While the Americans chase a sixth straight gold in the all-around, the rest of the world is ready to battle for a spot on the podium. And a fight to the end it will be.
