The UEFA European Championship will be jointly hosted in 2028, on the back of the successful 2024 tournament in Germany.
Four of the seven editions of the tournament since 2000 have been hosted by two joint nations, or in the case of Euro 2020, split across multiple European countries.
Following a bidding process to decide the host of Euro 2028, UEFA made the decision to grant the tournament as a shared project between the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland.
The call came following the withdrawal of rival host bids, including from Spain and Portugal, with UEFA satisfied the UK/Ireland option was the best hosts for four years’ time.
