The Texans may not have the greatest offensive line in the NFL, or the AFC, or even their own division. However, they do at least have one strong foundational piece to build the unit around. That would be their franchise left tackle Laremy Tunsil, a four-time Pro Bowler who is the highest-paid player in the league at his position at $ 25 million per year. While that doesn’t necessarily make him the best left tackle in football, it at least has to put him in the conversation.
Even that might not be enough to satisfy Tunsil, though.
CBS Sports NFL analyst Jeff Kerr recently came out with a ranking of the top 20 tackles in the league and he put Tunsil at No. 3 on his list behind Trent Williams of the 49ers and Lane Johnson of the Eagles.
Apparently that wasn’t good enough for Tunsil, who’s literally taking names. Observe.

Tough crowd, especially considering Kerr is much kinder to Tunsil than some other analysts have been this offseason. For example, Zoltan Buday at Pro Football Focus only had Tunsil ranked No. 8 on his list of the top offensive tackles in the league this year. PFF’s grades for the 2023 season were even harsher, as they had him graded out at 75.5, tied with Kaleb McGary for No. 20 at his position.
It’s good that Tunsil has a high bar for analysis of his game, but the only way to get to the top of this particular mountain is to outplay Trent Williams consistently for a couple of years, and as yet he hasn’t done that.
Nevertheless, Tunsil is more than capable of keeping C.J. Stroud’s backside clean and that’s all that really matters for the Texans.
