Two warriors step up and take over International Fight Week as Alex Pereira defends the UFC light heavyweight title in a rematch against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303.
The fight replaces Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, a contest two years in the making. McGregor had to pull out of the fight after suffering an injury during training. It is unknown when the two will face off.
Pereira is a former kickboxing champion who is 7-1 since joining the UFC in 2021. “Poatan” beat Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 to become the UFC middleweight champion. After losing the belt in a rematch, the Brazilian moved in weight and beat Prochazka at UFC 295 for the light heavyweight title. The win resulted in a UFC record for the shortest time and fewest fights (736 days/7 fights) to win titles in two divisions.
A RIZIN former light heavyweight champion, Prochazka is 4-1 in the UFC. He beat Glover Teixeira in 2022 for the UFC light heavyweight title but was forced to relinquish it after suffering a shoulder injury. After losing against Pereira, the Czech National Championship gold medalist in Muay Thai decimated Aleksandar Rakic in a rebound fight.
UFC 303 was going to break records before McGregor’s pullout. Pereira and Prochazka have stepped in to save the day. Pereira looks for his fourth win since July 2023, while Prochazka is ready to hold gold again. Both fierce warriors will give it their all in this light heavyweight showdown.
