Building around quarterback Anthony Richardson was the main objective this offseason for the Indianapolis Colts.
For the most part, they achieved that objective by re-signing a handful of players before free agency arrived, keeping the core of the offense intact.
What they also did was add an explosive weapon in the 2024 NFL Draft by taking wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in the second round.

This move, lauded by many when it happened, also earned praise from Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News, who dubbed it the best move the Colts made this offseason.
The Colts weren’t too active in free agency and the draft, but they ended up adding a key weapon for Anthony Richardson to execute his downfield passing better in Year 2.
Mitchell should provide the type of competition the Colts need at the X-receiver position, battling with third-year player Alec Pierce for the prominent role in the offense.
With Michael Pittman Jr. returning on a three-year deal, running back Jonathan Taylor starting the three-year extension he signed in 2023 and the offensive line returning all of its players from the previous campaign, the Colts have done well to support Richardson.
By adding Mitchell, they also gave him an explosive deep threat who has proven to be a maestro in the red zone as well.
