Though “Armageddon” might be aespa‘s most recent hit, many fans can’t get over the bop that is pre-release single “Supernova”.
“Supernova” is a perfect example of what aespa excels at, from the unique and quirky concept to the futuristic sound and killer vocals. Not to mention, it has a nostalgic type of vibe that reminds many OG K-Pop fans of past generations, particularly second gen, which appeals to many for that reason alone!
For these reasons and more, “Supernova” is proving to be one of aespa’s biggest hits yet, and is arguably the peak of the group’s career so far. It has become the most-listened-to song in Korea for 2024 thus far, reaching a peak of over 76,000 unique hourly listeners and over 460,000 unique daily listeners on MelOn. This makes it the first song to have over 70,000 unique hourly listeners this year so far.
And only one other K-Pop song released in 2024 has surpassed 400,000 unique daily listeners: “SPOT!” by Zico ft. Jennie, which reached a peak of 410,000.
Additionally, “Supernova” has reached PAK (Perfect All-Kill) status, reaching #1 on all Korean music charting platforms.

And it’s not just in Korea that “Supernova” is a hit! On the Spotify Global Daily Chart, “Supernova” has reached a peak of #44, while “Armageddon” is close behind at #55. It’s just further evidence that aespa’s impact goes beyond the K-Pop industry and into the music industry as a whole, which is definitely deserved!
