Barcelona 16-year-old Lamine Yamal has been named in Spain’s preliminary 29-man squad for Euro 2024 by head coach Luis de la Fuente, who will cut the group down before the June 7 deadline.
Pedri has also been included alongside fellow Catalan teammates Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres and 17-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi. Gavi is out due to an ACL injury.
Real Madrid’s Nacho, Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente, and Real Betis’ Ayoze Perez are also in the squad but Marco Asensio has been omitted.
Spain, who have been drawn in Group B, will play Croatia, Italy, and Albania. The final squad will be announced after a friendly against Andorra on June 5.

How many players are in Euro 2024 squads?
On May 3, 2024, UEFA’s executive committee confirmed national teams would be able to name 26 players in their Euro 2024 squads.
This was the number allowed due to the impact of COVID-19 upon Euro 2020, while the FIFA World Cup taking place in the middle of the 2022/23 European season meant larger squads were also permitted.
UEFA intended to revert to a 23-man limit for Euro 2024 but the national competitions committee voting in favour of 26-man squads forced a rethink.
