Former BIGBANG member Seungri used to be the face of Tinder in South Korea.
His partnership with the dating company is once again going viral. He filmed a video advertisement for them which was released on June 14, 2018, a year before his “Burning Sun” crimes were revealed.
The video framed him as an eligible bachelor who is ready to meet girls on the app.
Seungri is alone. Why should I be? I’m on Tinder because of you. I uploaded many pictures of myself. Videos, too!

He later attended a “Tinder x Seungri Secret Party” in Gangnam, Seoul, to celebrate this launch. He was called the “Global CEO Seungri” to entice women to download the app to possibly meet successful men just like him.
His partnership with Tinder is now being viewed with raised eyebrows. It is public knowledge that he was sentenced to three years in prison in 2020 for crimes including solicitation of illegal prostitution, illegal gambling overseas, distribution of non-consensually filmed sexual content, embezzlement, threatening, and assault.
He committed violent acts against women all the while being the face of a dating app targeting them.
Netizens are commenting their shocked reactions to this following the release of BBC‘s “Burning Sun” documentary.
I’m watching the documentary about the Burning Sun, I’m shocked that Seungri was the face of Tinder in Korea.

They added that it was a “double standard” to make him represent such a company in significant brand campaigns despite his true personality.
The Burning Sun issue and Korean double standards go hand in hand…there are companies like Tinder that continue to use his image in large campaigns.
