Scott McTominay’s penalty was the difference between the sides in Piraeus on Thursday, taking Steve Clarke’s team step closer to retaining their top-tier status.
Greece were 2-1 winners on their previous visit to the UK when they stunned England 2-1 at Wembley last October. However, a 3-0 loss in the return match plunged them into this playoff.

The big question before this playoff tie was whether Clarke would switch to a back five to accommodate the return of Kieran Tierney. He stuck with a four-man defence in Greece and, despite a torrid second half, that setup is the same for the return.
Ryan Christie is back from suspension and replaces Lewis Ferguson as the only change for the hosts.

By contrast, Greece boss Ivan Jovanovic has rung the changes, making six alterations to the team beaten last time out.
That includes a start for 17-year-old attacker Konstantinos Karetsas, who joins a forward line lead by Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis. Despite scoring 20 goals for Benfica this season, Pavlidis has just one in his 19 outings for his country.
Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas is one of the players benched.
