On January 16, the trial of the female streamer who blackmailed singer Kim Junsu was held at the Uijeongbu District Court.
The prosecution requested a seven-year sentence on charges of extorting money by threatening Kim Junsu.
During the trial, the streamer’s side revealed their position on why they committed the crime.
They were addicted to propofol and unable to make rational decisions, making them commit the crime to secure money for drugs.

They added that the streamer was reflecting on their actions since the arrest.
They did not intentionally approach the victim to record them. Some of the money was used to pay off their father’s hospital bills as he was battling prostate cancer.

Previously, it was reported that an AfreecaTV female streamer, blackmailed former TVXQ member Kim Junsu and stole over ₩800 million KRW (about $ 569,000 USD).
During the investigation, it was revealed that after meeting Kim Junsu in 2019, the streamer threatened to distribute audio files of conversations about sexual intercourse and received money in exchange for not posting them.
