Towson and William & Mary provided fans with a humdinger when the two college football teams met last September at Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia. This year the Tribe will be traveling to Maryland to face the Tigers at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
In one of the highlights of the 2023 CAA season, Towson rallied for 31 second-half points to beat Towson, 34-24. Nathan Kent hit Carter Runyon for two fourth-quarter TDs, and running back Devin Matthews totaled 117 yards and a score.
Runyon and Matthews are back for this weekend’s rematch, but Kent has been demoted to third-string QB behind Carlos Davis and Sean Brown. Towson has started 1-3, however, so anything can happen under center this weekend.
William & Mary, meanwhile, has started 4-1. The Tribe trampled Hampton, 49-7, last weekend after a 10-point win over Furman in Week 4 and a one-score victory over Wofford one week prior.
The Tribe’s gargantuan win over Hampton showcased its strong defense and its dominant running game. Hampton was limited to just 84 passing yards, while W&M racked up 424 combined rushing yards and six ground TDs between Tyler Hughes, Bronson Yoder, Malachi Imoh, and Darius Wilson.
