Josh Allen has been a consistent winner in Buffalo, even if his performance hasn’t yet translated to a ton of playoff success.
The Bills QB has led his team to a winning record every regular season since becoming the full-time starter in 2019. Because of Allen, Buffalo has been an annual contender in the AFC.
Allen and the Bills have also tended to play particularly well in their Thursday matchups and that trend continued with a Week 2 win over Miami.
Here’s a look at Allen’s record in Thursday games.

Josh Allen’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ record
Allen now has a perfect 7-0 record in Thursday games throughout his career so far. Four of those wins are from a typical “Thursday Night Football” matchup and the others coming in Thanksgiving games.
In those seven wins, Allen has been the same quarterback he usually is — an efficient and dynamic passer and runner, yet prone to some turnovers along the way.
Allen has 15 touchdowns and six interceptions in Thursday games. Here’s a look at his total stats in those matchups:
Stat | Total |
Record | 7-0 |
Comp. % | 72.8% |
Passing yards | 1,727 |
Pass TDs | 15 |
INTs | 6 |
Yards/attempt | 7.9 |
Passer rating | 107.5 |
The Bills’ success continued against the Dolphins in Week 2, coming away with an easy 31-10 win.
Miami came close to finally snatching the AFC East crown away from Buffalo last season, both finishing with an 11-6 record. But the tiebreaker was in the Bills’ favor after they had a pair of wins against the Dolphins in the regular season.
Here’s a look at a few of Allen’s most notable performances across his seven Thursday wins.

Week 13, 2019: Bills vs. Cowboys
In his Thursday debut, which was also on Thanksgiving, Allen led the Bills to a 26-15 win over the Cowboys.
While Dallas, who had Dak Prescott at quarterback, took an early 7-0 lead on a Jason Witten touchdown, the Bills took control from there. Allen threw a touchdown to WR Cole Beasley and later ran for a score in the win.
Allen finished with 231 yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in his first NFL victory on a Thursday.
Week 12, 2021: Bills vs. Saints
This was Allen’s second appearance in a Thursday game, also a Thanksgiving contest, and it might be his best overall.
Buffalo dominated New Orleans, 31-6, as Allen tossed four touchdowns. Two of his four scores went to TE Dawson Knox, while WR Stefon Diggs and RB Matt Breida also found the end zone.
This game wasn’t close, and Allen’s final stat line also included 260 passing yards and 43 rushing yards.
Week 8, 2023: Bills vs. Buccaneers
Allen’s most recent “Thursday Night Football” game — the others came in September and December 2022 — was last season. The matchup was against Tampa Bay, an eventual playoff team, and it finished as a one-score contest.
Buffalo won 24-18 as Allen totaled two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. Add in his 324 yards in the air and 41 on the ground, and it was a strong performance from the quarterback.
The win moved Allen to 6-0 all-time in Thursday games, but that unbeaten record will soon be tested again vs. the Dolphins.
