Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has ben charged by the FA over a comment made on Uruguayan television about Spurs captain Son Heung-min.
Bentancur was asked by interviewer Rafa Cotelo back in June for a Spurs player’s shirt to which he replied.
“Sonny’s? It could be Sonny’s cousin too as they all look the same.”

The incident cause a wave of criticism for Bentancur and he quickly apologised to his teammate via social media ahead of a preseason return.
“Sonny brother,” he wrote. “I apologise to you for what happened, it was just a very bad joke. You know I love you and I would never disrespect you or hurt you or anyone else! I love you, brother!”
Bentancur’s remarks have since been looked into by the FA and the 27-year-old has been charged with a rule breach relating to ‘acting in an improper manner and/or using abusive and/or insulting words and/or brought into disrepute’.
An extended FA statement says the ‘aggravated breach’ included a reference, whether express or implied, to nationality and/or race and/or ethnic origin.
Bentancur has until September 19 to respond to the charge but he is eligible for this weekend’s North London derby at home to Arsenal on September 15.
