The Dolphins and Bills meet twice yearly during the regular season, and in recent years, these have been must-see matchups with high playoff implications. Buffalo has won the AFC East four years in a row, but Miami is a real contender in 2024 and is looking for its first division title since 2008.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is healthy and expected to be under center for Miami on Thursday. Let’s look at how Tagovailoa has fared against Buffalo in his NFL career ahead of this matchup.

Tua Tagovailoa’s record vs. Bills
Tagovailoa was drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in 10 games as a rookie, spending most of the season as a complement/backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick. Tagovailoa started for the Dolphins in 2021 but ended up splitting time with Jacoby Brissett as he struggled to stay healthy. He played in 13 games in 2021 and 2022 before finally logging a full season in 2023.
So far in his four-year career, he has played the Bills seven times in the regular season. Miami played Buffalo once in the playoffs when Tagovailoa was on the team, but he was hurt, and backup Skylar Thompson started under center.
Tagovailoa has not had success against the Bills so far in his career. Heading into Thursday’s contest, he’s a career 1-6 against Buffalo, including three straight losses.
