A man in his 30s, who was under investigation for child sexual exploitation, fell to his death from the 8th-floor balcony of an apartment in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
The incident occurred late in the evening— around 11 PM on August 31 — according to reports from the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency.
The man (identified as Mr. A) was found by emergency responders in a state of cardiac arrest when they arrived at the scene. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was later pronounced dead.
Mr. A was being investigated for allegedly threatening to upload illegal sexual content involving minors on social media platforms. It is reported that he had posted such content before quickly deleting it.
The police were immediately called to the scene, but Mr. A spent around 10 minutes on the balcony — at one point attempting to move to a neighboring apartment’s balcony — before ultimately falling to his death just before rescue teams could reach him.
Online, netizens reacted strongly to the news.
- “He caused immense suffering to innocent children but couldn’t face even a little questioning? This is typical behavior from Korean men — only strong when targeting the weak.”
- “Suicide is too easy for someone like him. They should have caught and punished him properly.”
- “What a coward.”
- “Is this the same guy mentioned earlier today? I hope it’s not.”
- “He knew he was guilty, so it’s fitting that he’s gone.”
- “Glad to hear this news.”
- “He got what he deserved.”
- “Died disgracefully, tsk tsk.”
