The Jets and Commanders, two teams looking for bounce-back seasons in 2024, will face off in NFL preseason Week 1 on Saturday at noon in the Meadowlands. The Sporting News has all the info you need about this game, including how to listen to the home or away broadcast on SiriusXM.
Soon, New York can hit restart on the beginning of the Aaron Rodgers era. The four-time MVP suffered a season-ending Achilles tendon tear four offensive snaps into 2023, grounding Gang Green’s lofty expectations and crushing the Jets fanbase. Rodgers probably won’t play in the preseason, but he’s well on track to start Week 1 of the regular season alongside Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and new Jet Mike Williams.
Commanders rookie QB and second overall draft pick Jayden Daniels, nearly half Rodgers’ age, will be leading the next generation of Washington football. He’ll have plenty of support, with former All-Pro back Austin Ekeler, highlight-reel wideout Terry McLaurin, and young studs Jahan Dotson and Brian Robinson Jr. The future seems bright in the nation’s capital.
This marks the first preseason game for both teams, so expect to see many rookies and practice-squad players receive playing time. Roster-cut decisions will come quickly, so these exhibition games will play a large part in who ultimately makes or misses each team’s final 53-man roster.
