WATCH: Serhii Bohachuk vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr., live on DAZN
Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) is the defending WBC interim champion. A rampaging pressure fighter, the Ukrainian star is one of the best fighters in this weight class and he’s coming off a career-best win over the highly-rated Brian Mendoza. He did suffer a setback against Brandon Adams in 2021 but has won six fights since, five by knockout.
Ortiz (21-0, 21 KOs) will be having his third fight at 154 pounds and his punching power has certainly moved up with him. The Texas-born boxer-puncher is coming off a pair of first-round knockout triumphs over Fredrick Lawson and Thomas Dulorme. If he can make Bohachuk a memory, Ortiz will be hoping to face pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford next.
“I don’t think anyone, except me, at 154 can beat him,” Ortiz told FightHub recently.

Serhii Bohachuk vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr. prediction, best bets
What a fight this is!
Bohachuk is an excellent offensive force who excels at mid-to-close range. If the Ukrainian star is allowed to work at that distance, he’s almost certain to obliterate whoever is in front of him.
However, when Bohachuk attempts to close the gap in this fight, I can see him being speared by vicious counterpunches from the outside and the damage will mount. As well as being a knockout artist, Ortiz is a terrific technician with a high ring IQ and he’ll know what game plan to implement in this fight.
I rate Ortiz highly and think he’ll come through his toughest test to date. He’s been very unlucky with his health and inactivity, but he’ll rise to the occasion and break Bohachuk down. Both fighters have tremendous hitting power, but Ortiz is the more well-rounded and polished of the two.
This is a potential Fight of the Year candidate, and I see Ortiz winning it inside the distance.
