The final is set for this year’s edition of The Basketball Tournament, with Carmen’s Crew set to take on the Forever Coogs on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia.
Carmen’s Crew, comprised of Ohio State alumni, defeated La Familia to advance to the championship game. Former Buckeyes All-American Jared Sullinger led the way with 16 points, while Jamel Morris drained the game-winning 3-pointer.
Forever Coogs represents the University of Houston, with former Cougars standout Rob Gray spurring the charge. Gray is averaging 20 points per game and netted 18 points — including the game-winner — to defeat Eberlein Drive in the semifinal.
The two universities have only met twice before on the hardwood in official DI men’s basketball, splitting the two games. The most recent meeting came in 2019, when the Cougars defeated the Buckeyes to punch their ticket to the Sweet Sixteen.
