This news seems as though it should have already happened in the last 22 years since Darrell Green last played professional football for the Washington Redskins.
The two-time Super Bowl Champion and Pro Football Hall of Famer is having his jersey retired in Week 7 of the 2024 season when the Commanders host the Carolina Panthers.

Fans reacted to this news mainly in disbelief. They could not believe that Green was just now getting his jersey retired. After all, Tom Brady had his Patriots jersey retired this year, and he left the team five years ago.

It appears the new ownership is trying to get things right by giving props to one of the best to ever play in Washington.
Fans are curious about exactly what jersey is being retired since the Redskins name and jersey no longer exists. In recent years, the Washington Redskins became the Washington Football Team and now the Washington Commanders. Is Green’s jersey going to be a Redskins jersey?
One thing the fans can agree on is the game selected. They like the choice of the Panthers game because they believe the Commanders can get a win on Darrell Green’s much-belated jersey retirement day.
