The Denver Broncos will open training camp ahead of the 2024 NFL season in just three short weeks and that brings about the start of a new series here at The Sporting News, position previews for the team.
With that said, we will start in the most obvious place, talking quarterbacks. It seems as though that has been a non-stop topic for Broncos fans since the day Peyton Manning retired and since we are getting close to a decade since that happened, that’s not good.
The hope is that the Broncos have found the quarterback to finally be an adequate piece of the offense and lead the team back into postseason contention year in and year out. The question at this time is how long it is going to take to get him to that point.
Looking at the three quarterbacks on the team’s current roster, here is how the depth chart will probably look when camp opens.
Denver Broncos depth chart: Quarterback
1. Jarrett Stidham
This might be the least exciting name of the three for Broncos fans, but Jarrett Stidham, who finished last season as the team’s starter, is likely going to get the first crack at leading the team when practices open. It’s obvious that he is not the starter of the future, but he will keep the seat warm until the team’s first-round pick is ready.
2. Bo Nix
This is Bo Nix’s job to lose but the team must be careful in how they handle his future. Training camp practices and preseason games will provide a great barometer of where he stands as a rookie and how soon he should be given the job.
Throwing him out on the field before he is ready is reckless and Sean Payton knows that. It will be interesting to see if he opens the season as the starter and if he doesn’t, fans must not see that as a failure but rather, a tactical approach.
3. Zach Wilson
There have been conflicting reports out there this offseason in regards to how Zach Wilson looks in a Broncos uniform but if you watched him play in New York, like at all, you can take an educated guess and say it’s probably not good.

Wilson will have a tough time even winning the No. 2 job in Denver. The question will become, do the Broncos keep three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster? If you go with a rookie as your Week 1 starter, it might not be a bad idea to have extra insurance.
