A couple in their 30s went so far as to consider divorce due to a fight regarding the husband liking aespa member Winter.
Recently, a post titled “I fought with my wife, please tell me if I was wrong” was uploaded on the anonymous workplace community Blind. The OP (original poster), a 35-year-old official worker, gave a detailed account of his fight with his wife, who is three years younger than him.
The OP began his post by saying that he was a fan of Winter, but not to the point of serious fanboying. “I don’t follow their concerts or have their photos as my computer wallpaper, but if someone asks me, ‘Which idol do you like?’ I would answer, ‘I’m a fan of Winter,’” he explained.
After OP heard the teaser song from aespa’s new full album, he casually mentioned to his wife that he was considering buying the new album. The last album he ever bought, OP added, was a cassette tape of BoA while he was in middle school.
His tame suggestion was, however, met with grimace from his wife, who said it was disgusting that he liked Winter, who is more than 10 years younger than him. Annoyed by this comment, the OP shot back at her, bringing up her mother’s fangirling of trot singer Jung Dongwon.
I retorted, ‘Your mother follows trot singer Jung Dong Won everywhere. Then that must be disgusting, too.’ My wife got serious and said, ‘Why are you talking like that?’

According to OP, his mother-in-law attends all domestic and overseas schedules of Jung and even plans her daily life activities and family gatherings around his schedule.
Since their fight, OP said his wife has been constantly taunting him, implying he is a “pervert” for liking an idol with more than ten years of age difference. Their subsequent fights have followed the same back-and-forth, with OP retorting with his mother-in-law’s fangirling. In the post, he mentioned that he planned to buy multiple copies of aespa’s new album. But even more drastically, OP said he had to scrap the considerations of divorce since they have a child together.
I’m so pissed off that I feel like buying ten copies of aespa’s full album and spreading them all over the living room. We have a baby, so I can’t even get a divorce. What should I do?
— The OP
Netizens sympathized with the OP, criticizing his wife for her harsh words. Many defended him, saying liking a younger celebrity is not a crime, given that people even get married with a 10-year age difference.
