Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson may have ended the offseason workouts on the sideline, but he fully plans on working with his teammates during the break.
Both Richardson and head coach Shane Steichen downplayed the severity of the shoulder soreness the second-year quarterback was dealing with at the end of minicamp.
When asked by the media last week whether Richardson plans to get some off-site workouts in with his teammates, the 22-year-old left no doubt.
“Yeah, for sure. That’s kind of like a mandatory second mini-camp for us,” Richardson said. “Just to get back in a groove before training camp starts – just get ready for the season.”
This is a common theme for all teams around the league so it’s no surprise there are plans in place. But it does offer some encouragement regarding any questions around his shoulder soreness.
As to who will be planning the workouts, Richardson is leaving that up to his top target.
“Last year, we did Florida. This year, kind of leaving it up to Pitt (Michael Pittman Jr.). Trying not to be too stingy with where I want to go. So, just being open for the team,” Richardson said.
There likely will be some videos on social media about the workouts so it will be interesting to see who shows up for the workouts, but they certainly are set to happen during summer break.
