The countdown to the Olympics continues at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships. With it comes gymnasts’ final chance for a shot at the 2024 Trials.
Before it even began, one Olympic hopeful closed her bid at a spot on the Paris team. Gabby Douglas, a two-time Olympian and all-around gold medalist, sustained an ankle injury during training. Not only is she unable to compete at the U.S. Championships, but she decided to stop her Games pursuit. Don’t worry, she’s already eyeing a run at the 2028 Olympics.
No surprise this competition’s biggest name is Simone Biles. The most decorated gymnast of all times is trying for a third Olympics, something no American woman has done since 2000. She’s on track to do so, having won the all-around at the Core Classics a few weeks ago.
