Former Morning Musume member Ai Kago has come forward to address allegations claiming she has been working as a hostess at a lounge bar in Tokyo.
On May 28, Japanese media outlet FLASH reported that Ai Kago was seen entertaining guests and serving drinks at a lounge bar in a busy district of Tokyo. The report suggested that Kago, who divorced her husband in 2016, might have taken up this job to support her two children.
Additionally, Kago has been reportedly facing difficulties in securing roles in films and TV shows due to previous rumors involving connections with a yakuza executive. However, Kago and her agency have firmly denied these claims.

Meanwhile, Ai Kago herself came forward and explained the situation to avoid any misunderstandings.
I have only been assisting at my sister-in-law’s shop by occasionally working at the counter once or twice a week.

Last year, Kago was also caught up in rumors regarding a trip to Korea with a yakuza executive. Speculations emerged that a yakuza executive had spent significant amounts of money on accommodation and entertainment during their trip. Kago clarified the situation, stating, “I went to Korea with a close friend as planned. We traveled and returned together, and I paid for all the travel expenses, including the hotel.”
She further explained, “While in Korea, I met my mom’s friend at a hotel and was introduced to two men. I didn’t know their names and had no idea one of them was a yakuza executive. I apologize for any misunderstanding caused by my actions.”
Ai Kago married in 2011 but later announced her divorce in 2016. Despite these rumors, the top star continues to focus on raising her two children and remains committed to her career in the entertainment industry.
