Plastic surgery can drastically change a person’s appearance for better or worse, as one internet-famous star found out.
Jin Dawei (also known as Abel) rose to fame in the late 2010s on Douyin (China’s TikTok). His appearance and content earned him over a million followers on the platform.
In 2019, Abel stopped posting, not just on Douyin, but on all his social media accounts. Nearly two years later, he revealed in a tearful Douyin video why he had abruptly disappeared: plastic surgery gone wrong.
A fat grafting operation, if done right, can reverse certain signs of aging had the opposite effect for Abel.
At that time, the doctor lied to me and told me that it was just like an injection, but fat grafting is actually a major operation and can kill you if not done properly.

Rather than turning back the clock, the procedure sped time up by leaving Abel’s face more lined and sunken in some areas.
To add insult to injury, his family members made him feel worse about his new appearance by calling him “ugly.” Abel’s distress caused him to lose hair and sleep, taking a toll on his mental and physical health.
I’ve really aged by more than 20 years. At first I just wanted to look good, but now, I’ve become an ugly monster.
My parents keep asking how I’ve become so ugly, and even relatives who usually don’t have much to say made comments. I have been avoiding them ever since. I really regret it. I regret not protecting my past self!

He told his followers that he intended to save up money to fix the botched surgery, and it appears that he may have succeeded.
Time is poison, and every second that passes will carve a wound in the heart.
Time is the antidote, and every day that passes will heal the wound and weave a strong protective shell for the heart.
