The 2023/24 Premier League season concludes today, on Sunday, May 19, in one last extravaganza of English football.
Manchester City and Arsenal head into matchday 38 knowing they could be just 90 minutes away from becoming champions. While City hold the advantage , Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are refusing to give up hope ahead of their home game with Everton.
The UEFA Champions League places are set , but the remaining European qualification places are not yet certain. Tottenham are not guaranteed to finish fifth, with London rivals Chelsea breathing down their necks, while Manchester United need a result at Brighton & Hove Albion to avoid their worst-ever Premier League finish .
At the bottom, it seems as though Luton Town will be joining Sheffield United and Burnley back in the EFL Championship , although their relegation is not quite confirmed yet .

Premier League final day live updates, highlights
All times ET
11:22 a.m.: GOAL! Manchester City 2-0 West Ham (Foden, 18′) City have been in total control here and now their lead is doubled, Foden converting first time from Jeremy Doku’s low cut-back. Arsenal have dominated their game against Everton, but it remains 0-0. Not that it matters much.
11:18 a.m.: GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Bournemouth (Caicedo, 17′): Oh, my goodness! Moises Caicedo scores from the halfway line! Neto raced from his box to stop Nicolas Jackson reaching the ball, but his under-pressure clearance found Caicedo, who picks out the back of the net in incredible fashion.
11:17 a.m.: GOAL! Burnley 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Wood, 14′); Wood makes it 2-0! VAR has to intervene to overturn a previous call to disallow the goal, and Forest double their lead. Penny for the thoughts of those clubs who think the tech should be scrapped next season …
11:16 a.m.: GOAL! Sheffield United 0-1 Tottenham (Kulusevski, 14′): Sheffield United’s season doesn’t look like ending on a happy note. Dejan Kulusevski has struck for Spurs, putting them firmly on course for a fifth-place finish. The goal did come against the run of play, it must be said.
11:13 a.m.: GOAL! Crystal Palace 1-0 Aston Villa (Mateta, 9′): What has Oliver Glasner done with Jean-Philippe Mateta? The Palace striker might just have been the most in-form forward in the league in these final weeks. He’s scored another one here, which is allowed to stand after a VAR check.
11:05 a.m.: GOAL! Manchester City 1-0 West Ham (Foden, 2′): That didn’t take long at all! Phil Foden, the newly crowned Premier League Player of the Season , crashes home a strike to put City ahead. The title is in their hands already.
11:04 a.m.: GOAL! Burnley 0-1 Nottingham Forest (Wood, 2′): Chris Wood strikes after just two minutes to put Forest ahead against his former club! If there were any lingering worries that relegation might still be possible today, that should dispel them.
Kickoff
Here we go! One final spell of 90 minutes to decide the season.
10:58 a.m.: Jurgen Klopp walks out of the Anfield tunnel one more time, turns, and takes it all in. A tifo covers the stands. Everyone is shaking his hand or giving him a hug. And here comes You’ll Never Walk Alone. Whether or not you’re a Liverpool fan, this is a special farewell.
10:55 a.m.: Kickoff is just minutes away up and down the country.
10:38 a.m.: Jurgen Klopp is asked how he might feel about hearing You’ll Never Walk Alone at Anfield for the final time. “A little bit emotional,” he tells Sky Sports, “but I’ll try to do the job. I would really like us to make a really good game. That would be really cool.”

9:25 a.m.: It’s a sign of Chelsea’s crazy season that they begin today knowing that they could finish fifth in the table if results go their way. That would be some achievement given they still seemed to be mired in complete absurdity just a couple of months ago. The Blues can take some inspiration from Emma Hayes’ women’s team, who became WSL champions for the seventh time only yesterday.

8:58 a.m.: We’re about two hours from kickoff of today’s games (as a reminder, they all start at the same time today. Here’s why .).
8:28 a.m.: This isn’t always the case in the north-west of England in May, but the weather today is glorious — and hot. How City would love an early goal so they can spend the rest of the afternoon passing West Ham to death.

8:13 a.m.: So, how do things look at the bottom of the table? Well, not great, obviously, if your team is down there, but let’s look at what’s left to play for. We know that Sheffield United and Burnley are already relegated , regardless of results today. It’s pretty darned certain that Luton Town will be joining them, but it’s not absolutely certain just yet: if Nottingham Forest have a really, really bad day, and Luton pull off their biggest ever Premier League win, they could just about survive .
Keep the faith, Hatters fans!

7:48 a.m.: Away from the title race and Anfield, there’s a potentially fascinating — if kind of meaningless — final day in store for Manchester United. They head to England’s south coast to face Brighton & Hove Albion knowing that a victory may well be necessary if they are to avoid their worst ever Premier League season . The trouble is, with an FA Cup final coming up next week, Erik ten Hag may well wish to give some key players a rest and accept that rather gloomy league record.
For Brighton, it promises to be a particularly odd day given that head coach Roberto De Zerbi will take charge of his final game, the club having somewhat dramatically announced his departure yesterday.
Brighton & Hove Albion has confirmed that head coach Roberto De Zerbi will leave the club after tomorrow’s final Premier League match of the season against Manchester United.

7:24 a.m.: Liverpool may not be in the title race any more, but this will be a momentous day at Anfield nonetheless, as Jurgen Klopp will be taking charge of his final match as Reds manager. After nearly nine years, and eight major trophies , he will bid farewell to the Kop.
